Leo F. Ahern, New York Advertising Executive, Dies At 84

Services will be held on Wednesday and Thursday for Eatontown resident.

Leo F. Ahern, 84, of Eatontown, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2016.

He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Dolores (nee: McMahon), loving father of Alice Kereks and husband Kirk, Dolores G. Ahern and Bud (Leo, III) Ahern. Cherished grandfather of Jannessa Neher and husband Jason, Clayton Frook and wife Ame, Christopher Ahern, Lindsey Ahern and great-grandfather of Campbell Frook. Leo was predeceased by his two brothers, Donald and Eugene.

Born and raised in Bayonne, Leo was a graduate of St. Peter's Prep, Fordham University and Rutgers University. He was an advertising executive and worked for several major agencies in New York. Leo worked on the Lincoln-Mercury account for many years and was recruited by Team One, a division of Saatchi and Saatchi. At Team One, he spearheaded a campaign to introduce the Lexus automobiles to the American public.

Leo was a past president of the Long Branch Old Guard, where he served two terms as president. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #12620. Leo was also a parishioner of St. Dorothea's R.C. Church in Eatontown and was a member of their choir.

Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Braun Funeral Home, 106 Broad Street, Eatontown. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. Dorothea's followed by entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Leo's memory to St. Peter's Prep Scholarship Fund, 144 Grand Street, Jersey City, NJ 07302.
