Local PGA Professional Captures NJPGA’s Lincoln Charity Clambake
Danny Lewis, Assistant PGA Professional at Hollywood Golf Club in Deal, captures his first major Championship on the NJPGA Section TOUR

Danny Lewis, Assistant PGA Professional at Hollywood Golf Club in Deal, NJ, captured his first major Championship on the New Jersey PGA Section TOUR with his win at the 2019 Lincoln Charity Clambake, June 17-19, at The Ridge at Back Brook, located in Ringoes, NJ. Modeled after the PGA TOUR’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and long considered one of the NJPGA’s four Major Championships, the event has raised over $1 million for charitable organizations since its inception.
One hundred teams, consisting of one PGA Professional and one amateur partner, competed in both a Team Net and Gross competition, while the PGA Professionals competed in their own 36-hole stroke play championship. The event, which is typically a 54-hole tournament, was reduced to 36 holes due to inclement weather.
Lewis shot a 69 in the first round followed by a 68 in the second round for a score of (-7) under par 137 to claim his victory while holding off fellow Hollywood Golf Club Assistant Pro, Bryan Dougherty and Sam Kang of Essex Golf Driving Range, who both finished 2 strokes back at (-5)139. The purse for the Lincoln Charity Clambake is one of the largest for any event contested in the New Jersey Section.
The New Jersey Golf Foundation (NJGF), the charitable arm of the NJPGA received a check for $25,000 to support its line-up of programming. The NJGF is committed to impacting lives and communities through the game of golf with a focus on 3 core pillars: youth, military and special needs.
