Long Branch Man Accused of Burglarizing Cars in Freehold Market Yard

Dario Showers, 21, of Long Branch was charged with burglary and theft on Wednesday after police said he took $1,400 worth of property from an unlocked car in the Market Yard parking lot in Freehold.
The Freehold Borough Police Department received a call from a resident who saw a man attempting to enter vehicles in Market Yard. Ptl. Nicholas Iozzi responded to the scene and said he saw Showers trying to enter unlocked cars on the lot.
Iozzi interviewed Showers and said he found two watches and a cell phone valued at $1,400 that belonged to a Pennsylvania man.

Showers was arrested and remanded to Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $50,000 bail.
Theft of items from unlocked cars typically rises in summer months, according to Lt. Mark Wodell. He urged residents to remember to lock their vehicles to prevent property loss.
