Long Branch Police Officer Saved Man's Life With CPR

On Jan. 2, a Tinton Falls man had a massive heart attack. His son ran to a neighbor's house, where Kevin Kuhne happened to be visiting.

LONG BRANCH, NJ — Long Branch police officer Kevin Kuhne is being honored for saving a man's life in early January, after police say he ran into the man's home and gave him CPR while the man was suffering a massive heart attack.

The incident occurred Jan. 2 in Tinton Falls, said Long Branch Police; Kuhne was off that day.

A 56-year-old man suffered a massive heart attack at his Tinton Falls home, and the victim's son ran to a neighbor for assistance.

Kuhne just happened to be visiting a friend's house at the time and he immediately ran into the home and administered life-saving CPR.

Within a few minutes, multiple Tinton Falls police officers arrived along with First Aid. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he required on-the-spot emergency heart surgery. The man is still alive today.

According to Lt. Kyle Pierson of Tinton Falls police, it was Officer Kuhne's fast thinking and immediate actions that saved the man's life.

"Officer Kuhne's actions are a direct reflection of the valor he displays each day within the city of Long Branch," said Long Branch Police.

Kuhne will be nominated for a Life Saving Award with the Tinton Falls Police Department.
