Man Hit, Killed By Car Near Monmouth Mall Jughandle In Eatontown

A pedestrian was hit by a car and killed last Friday morning, March 27 on Rt. 35 in Eatontown.

EATONTOWN, NJ — A pedestrian was hit by a car and killed last Friday morning, March 27 in Eatontown, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago announced Wednesday.

The man was hit just after 7 a.m. on Rt. 35, at the Monmouth Mall jughandle. A man was driving a 2019 Honda Insight southbound on Rt. 35 when he hit an adult man walking from the eastbound side of the roadway.

The pedestrian, later identified as Edwin Chavez-Solis, 22, was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 7:40 a.m.

The driver of the Honda Insight was uninjured and remained at the scene. No charges or summonses have been filed.
