Man Pleads Guilty To Sexually Assaulting Toddler In Long Branch

A man pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault and possessing child sex assault images regarding 2017 incidents, prosecutors said.

LONG BRANCH, N.J. — A man pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a toddler and possessing child sexual assault images for incidents in Long Branch, the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office announced Tuesday. The plea calls for Jaime Mauricio Leon to serve 25 years in prison without possibility of parole, the MCPO said.

Leon, 34, of Bloomfield, will be subject to Megan's Law registration and parole supervision for life upon his release from prison, officials said. A private citizen reported June 16, 2017, evidence of a female and male committing sexual acts upon a child who appeared to be asleep, the MCPO said.

The citizen reporting seeing this through a bedroom window. The case against the female codefendant is pending. The female suspect knew the child, the MCPO said.

Leon and the female suspect planned the attack on the child, and both had child sexual abuse images, officials said. Leon was arrested June 23, 2017, at his job site in Fort Lee, the MCPO said.
