Fire Contained At Kushner Apartments In Long Branch

LONG BRANCH, NJ — Editor's note: As of about 1:30 p.m. Thursday, the fire was contained. It is possible dozens of apartments under construction were destroyed.
There's a fire underway in Long Branch Thursday, and what's burning is an under-construction apartment building owned by Kushner Companies.
The fire is currently burning on Lower Broadway. This is the property, 118-119 Lower Broadway, where Kushner is currently building 299 luxury apartments, plus a Superfresh grocery store and cafe.

The fire started on the fourth floor of one of the buildings under construction, according to Tap Into. The fire started at 10 a.m. Thursday. Construction workers were inside the building Thursday when the fire started, and it was a worker who first noticed the fire, they reported. The fire started as very small and quickly grew.
Here's video from the scene Thursday of the fire. Fire trucks from many surrounding towns, inducing from as far as Middletown, raced to Long Branch.
