"Then, my parents decided to move to Highland Springs, another Erickson Senior Living community in North Dallas, Tex.," says Loftis, who was living in Dallas with his wife, Sarah, at the time. "Their move changed the trajectory of my career."
He was alongside them throughout their entire moving process, which was streamlined by the friendly sales team and the welcoming atmosphere at Highland Springs.
"I was very impressed with everything at the community, including a bank, a pharmacy, and an on-site medical center. Plus, home maintenance and repairs would be taken care of for them," he recalls. "I looked at everything Highland Springs had to offer and realized that this was a place for them to thrive and enjoy themselves."
His parents settled in quickly and have been active members of the community ever since. "They had a pretty engaging social life before moving to Highland Springs, but now, they're busier than ever before," says Loftis, noting that they have made many new friends by joining clubs and dining at the community's restaurants.
Making his own moves
Seeing his parents flourish at Highland Springs, Loftis realized he'd found his true calling.
"I really resonated with Erickson Senior Living's mission of helping people live better lives," he says. "I wanted to introduce more people to the lifestyle that Erickson offers and show them that it can make a difference."
So, when a sales associate position opened up at Highland Springs, he applied--and was hired in May 2022.
It didn't take long for Matt Neville, Highland Springs' executive director, to recognize his hard work and dedication. "Matt became my mentor, which allowed me to develop my leadership skills," explains Loftis.
Thanks to that learning experience, he felt confident in applying for the role of sales manager at Seabrook--more than 1,500 miles from home.
"Packing up and moving from Texas to New Jersey to take on a position I've never had before was a lot of pressure," he recalls, "but it was one of the best things that ever happened to me!"
A new chapter
Now, as Seabrook's sales director, he oversees and mentors the community's knowledgeable, collaborative sales team.
"It's the spirit of collaboration that takes the team's work to the next level," he says. "We want to continue to inform seniors about this gem in Tinton Falls and how they can make the most of their retirement here."
He continues, "The lifestyle here exceeds many seniors' expectations. There are more than 100 groups and activities, plus a range of top-notch amenities. Not to mention our maintenance-free homes, which enable residents to live life to the fullest, every day."
In fact, Loftis notes that the demand for this retirement lifestyle is at an all-time high. "We are on pace to sell out," he emphasizes. "I urge anyone interested in Seabrook to join the Priority List. Becoming a member allows you to save your spot in line for an available home."
Building relationships
When he's not busy in the sales office, he's most likely out and about in the community, building relationships with residents and fellow staff members.
"In some regards, coming to Seabrook felt like a new adventure. But Erickson's warm, friendly culture is also present here, which made me feel right at home," Loftis notes.
On the weekends, Loftis enjoys spending time at the beach and baking with Sarah, as well as strolling along nearby trails with their silver lab, Juni.
