Monmouth County Man Hurt In Holmdel Accident That Cracks Pole In Half

Power, phone and cable wires were hanging into the roadway.

A 31-year-old Monmouth County man was injured Monday in a motor vehicle accident in Holmdel, police said.

At 5:10 p.m., William Asman of Neptune was injured in an accident at Bethany and Old Manor roads, police said.

Holmdel Police responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Bethany and Old Manor roads. Upon arrival, patrols found a single vehicle accident where the vehicle was overturned in the middle of Bethany Road, and a utility pole was broken in half.

Investigation at scene revealed the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Bethany Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to leave the roadway, strike a utility pole and overturn. The operator of the vehicle, who was uninjured, was initially unable to exit the vehicle due to the damage but was assisted by bystanders in getting out safely.

JCPL and Verizon responded to the scene to repair the downed wires and pole. Bethany Road was closed in both directions till approximately 4:00 a.m. Ptl. O’Keefe, Holmdel PD, handled the investigation, assisted by Sgt. Imperato, Sgt. Durdack and Ptl. T. Sigismondi. Hazlet Police, Holmdel Fire Company, Hazlet Fire Company and Hazlet First Aid also responded for assistance at the scene.
