Monmouth Medical Center Presents Late April Community Health Education Programs

JOINT REPLACEMENT INFORMATION SESSION
Wednesday, April 22 at 5 p.m.
Do you have hip or knee pain? Join Mark W. Gesell, MD, Orthopaedic Surgeon, for this free program offering the latest information on hip and knee replacements including robotic-assisted partial knee and total hip replacement. Learn what to expect before and after surgery, how to prepare yourself to achieve the best possible outcome and receive an overview of The Joint Replacement Center program. This program will take place at Monmouth Medical Center, Stanley Wing, Room 206 located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. Registration is required by calling 732-923-7971. Free.
HEALTH FAIR AT PETER COOPER VILLAGE

This community health fair offers free health screenings including cholesterol, body composition analysis, BMI and skin cancer screens as well as health information and vendors. Pelvic floor disorders (PFDs), which include bladder control problems, bowel control problems and pelvic organ prolapse, impact one in three women at some point in their lives. Join Martin P. Michalewski, M.D., FACOG, Urogynecologist, Monmouth Medical Center, for an informative session about PFDs and treatment options that might just change your life. N.J. BARIATRIC AND METABOLIC INSTITUTE (NJBMI) AT MONMOUTH MEDICAL CENTER: NEW PATIENT WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY LECTURE
Thursday, April 23 from 6 to 7 p.m.
If you are 100 pounds or more overweight, you can’t afford to miss this physician-led educational lecture which will explain everything you need to know about weight-loss surgery. For those considering a bariatric procedure, this program will offer the most up-to-date information on gastric bypass surgery, gastric banding and sleeve gastrectomy. Attendees are invited to join the monthly support group following the lecture. This program will be held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. SAFE SITTER
Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Presented by certified Safe Sitter instructors, this program teaches 11- to 13-year-olds to be responsible, creative babysitters with special emphasis on how to handle emergencies. HEART HEALTH AND UPDTATES ON CANCER SCREENINGS
Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to Noon
This program, presented by Peter Farrugia, M.D., cardiologist at Monmouth Medical Center and Shirley Hwang, RN, MS, VP of Business Development and Clinical Integration at Monmouth Medical Center, will teach attendees how to maintain a healthy heart and provide an update on breast, colorectal, lung and prostate cancer screenings. Free blood pressure, cholesterol and balance test screenings are available. This program, presented in English with Chinese interpretation, takes place at the Jireh Church, located at 55 Vanderberg Road in Marlboro. Registration is required before April 18 by calling the Chinese Medical Program at 732-923-5057.
