Monmouth University's Bruce Springsteen Center For American Music Opens June 7
The museum used to be known as the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music, but it has expanded.
LONG BRANCH, NJ — The Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music will open to the public on June 7.
It was formerly known as the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music. However, the museum was renamed in January 2026, and expanded.
The new 32,000-square-foot building was designed by COOKFOX Architects of New York. The building cost $50 million to build and was entirely funded through private donations and grants, according to Monmouth University.

It is located in Long Branch, while the college is located in West Long Branch.
The brand-new museum includes exhibition galleries, research archives, immersive interactive experiences and a performance theater.

“The Springsteen Center provides a home for Bruce Springsteen’s archives and places him in the greater story of American music,” said Robert Santelli, founding executive director. “Popular music is one of America’s most enduring and respected cultural resources and Bruce Springsteen is one of its most important artists ... The Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music will be a busy place — Not only will it enhance American music scholarship and add a new research dimension to Monmouth University, it will also be where Springsteen fans will be able to better understand his vast body of music and become more sophisticated listeners of it.”
Exhibits in the new facility chronicle Springsteen’s career and explore his creative process. Genre and thematic displays of American music, along with more than a dozen interactive experiences, showcase the history and artistry of America’s rich musical legacy. A brand-new documentary created by award-winning director Thom Zimny unveils Springsteen’s role in American music.

We are proud to open this new destination to scholars, students, fans, and neighbors as a place where American music in all of its forms can be preserved, studied, and celebrated.”
