Prosecutor: Jersey Shore Man, 66, Tried To Speak, Meet With Juveniles On Internet

A 66-year-old Jersey Shore man was charged Saturday with attempting to speak and meet with juveniles on the Internet, according to Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
Kenneth J. Walker, 66, of Surf City was charged with one count of second-degree attempted sexual assault and one count of third-degree possession of child pornography, authorities said.
Walker was arrested after the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office’s High Tech Crime Unit executed a search warrant at 234 North 6th Street in Surf City on Saturday.

The OCPO said it received assistance from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, as well as the Toms River, Long Beach Township and Surf City police.
The search stemmed from a joint HTCU/HSI operation in which Walker was identified as the suspect, according to the OCPO.

The multi-jurisdictional operation began as a referral from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
The search warrant was executed after learning that Walker allegedly arranged to meet with a juvenile, authorities said. Walker, a Tier II Megan’s Law offender, was arrested by the partnering agencies and charged by OCPO HTCU detectives, according to Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
Bail was set at $200,000, cash only, by Judge Francis Hodgson. Walker was lodged in Ocean County Jail in default of bail.
