Reorgs and Officer Swearing-In Ceremonies New Year's Day

The new year brings a changing of the guard in both Eatontown and Tinton Falls

It's out with the old, in with the new this weekend as emergency services organizations in both and induct

Eatontown's borough council will also hold a reorganization meeting to swear-in two members reelected in November and appoint various professional service providers and volunteers to serve on Eatontown's numerous boards.

Tinton Falls will wait until its regular meeting on Jan. 3 to hold it's council's reorganization, swearing-in three members, choosing council president and deputy council president and selecting new members to the borough's planning board.

Sunday, Jan. 1: Annual Swearing-In of Officers, 11 a.m., Boro Hall

This New Year's Day tradition formally installs officers for the borough's fire and EMS for the 2012 year. According to the borough's Web site, the officers for Tinton Falls' four fire companies are sworn-in by their perspective fire district commissioners. The EMS officers have traditionally been sworn-in by the mayor or a council representative. The public is invited to attend.

Tuesday, Jan. 3: Borough Council Reorganization Meeting, 7:30 p.m., Boro Hall

Having just made the switch to holding council elections during November, the council will hold its reorganization next week to swear-in some new and some returning members. The ceremonies coincide with a regularly-scheduled meeting and the agenda includes standard municipal housekeeping as well as awards for the winners of the borough's holiday house decorating contest.

If lwas any indication, this annual meeting quickly draws lines amongst the and council members as professional service providers are selected for the upcoming year. The public is invited to come and join the fun.

Sunday, Jan. 1: Fire Department Installation of Officers, 11:30 a.m., Boro Hall

The will install officers for 2012 following the council's reorg meeting in the council room. We hear there will be a celebration back at the firehouse afterwards from noon to 5 p.m. with food, music and perhaps some bubbly to toast the new officers.
