Seabrook, an Erickson Living retirement community in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, held its annual Scholar Awards Ceremony on June 9. At the event, 28 graduating high school seniors were awarded $5,000 scholarships. In addition, the community gave out an additional $30,500 in Named Scholarships.
The Scholar’s Program is funded by the residents of Seabrook to support high school students employed on campus who have shown commitment to serving the Seabrook community. Qualifications include working 1,000 hours at Seabrook’s Dining Services during their junior and senior years in high school. Since 2001, Seabrook has provided 1,164 student worker scholarships valued at $955,000.
“The Scholars Fund truly shows the residents’ commitment to our student employees and to the value of higher education,” said Philanthropy Manager Ann Marie Matthews . “This year is especially auspicious as it’s Seabrook’s 20th anniversary year. By the time we reach our anniversary in November of 2018, we will have disbursed over one million dollars in scholarships to over 400 students.”
