Seabrook holds Veterans Day Ceremony

WWII veterans who live at Seabrook spoke about their experiences during the war

More than 200 people participated in a Veterans Day ceremony at Seabrook, an active continuing care retirement community in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, on November 11. The Seabrook Veterans Group organized the popular event that is held on campus each year.

During the program, Commander of the Seabrook Veterans Group Bill Bocchino interviewed Seabrook residents and WWII veterans Trudy Tuttle nee Seither and Benjamin Stewart about their experiences during the war.

Tuttle nee Seither was a 2nd Lt. Physical Therapist at the 126th General Hospital Leyte in the Philippines and treated severely wounded soldiers, many who were amputees needing Physical Therapy, during the war.

The ceremony also included a medley of service songs; “America the Beautiful” by Seabrook Executive Chef Talib Mohammed and his sister Kahadijah; “God Bless America” by Seabrook residents; an invocation and benediction by Seabrook Pastoral Ministries Manager David Bowman; and remarks from Commander of the Seabrook Veterans Group Bill Bocchino.

“Freedom is not free, and the opportunities we have are really owed to our veterans,” said Executive Director Todd DeLaney, who was named an honorary member of the Seabrook Veterans Group during the ceremony. “Thank you to our veterans for their service to our country.”

The Seabrook Veterans Group has over 190 registered members and organizes events on campus as well as donation drives for veterans throughout the year.
