Seabrook Veterans Receive State Medals for Military Service

More than 200 residents, staff, family members, and friends attended the moving ceremony held in Seabrook's Town Square Auditorium.

On Flag Day, June 14, the state of New Jersey awarded 21 veterans of Seabrook, a developed and managed Erickson Living retirement community in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, state medals for their military service. More than 200 residents, staff, family members, and friends attended the moving ceremony held in Seabrook’s Town Square Auditorium.

The program included a medal ceremony for Seabrook veterans as well as Tinton Falls Mayor Vito Perillo, keynote speaker Brigadier General Jemal J. Beale, and remarks from Seabrook Veterans Group member Bill Rubin, Seabrook’s Executive Director Paula Digerness, Senator Vin Gopal, Assemblywoman Joann Downey, Assemblyman Eric Houghtaling, Tinton Falls Mayor Vito Perillo, and Liz Schofield from the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. Resident Leo Heiden sang the National Anthem and God Bless America accompanied on piano by resident Norma Linzalone.

“I’m proud of Seabrook’s unwavering support for our veterans and their families,” said Executive Director Paula Digerness. “Today’s ceremony was a beautiful tribute to our veterans on campus who have done so much for our country. We thank them for their service and honor them for their bravery and patriotism.”

The Seabrook Veterans Group has over 190 registered members and organizes events on campus as well as donation drives for veterans throughout the year.

Seabrook is a not-for-profit organization, developed and managed by Erickson Living®. The community is governed by its own board of directors affiliated with National Senior Campuses, who provide independent financial and operational oversight of the community.
