Southern Regional Bassoonist Makes All-State Band

Amanda Rutkowski becomes the first sophomore in Southern history to make the all-state band.

Amanda Rutkowski's musical pursuits reached a high note. The Southern Regional sophomore made the New Jersey Music Educators Association all-state band and orchestra.

The New Jersey All-State Band performed their first concert in 1937 in Elizabeth. The band holds concerts that also serve as a way for college band directors to find incoming students.

Correction: Patch received incorrect information that Rutkowski was the first sophomore in school history to make the all-state band. She was not the first.
