Speed Friending Event Held at Seabrook

“What are some your favorite hobbies? Who was your favorite hero growing up? These were just a few of the icebreaker questions that residents asked each other at Seabrook’s Speed Friending event held February 24. More than 15 residents participated in the fun gathering at the active continuing care retirement community in Tinton Falls, New Jersey.

“Last year, resident Bunny Gitomer came up with this idea to have an entertaining event for residents to meet their neighbors and make new friends,” said Community Resources Coordinator Natalie Battifora. “The first Speed Friending event was a big hit with residents, and we now host the social a few times a year.”

“Making and enjoying new friendships is important for all ages,” said Battifora. “This event is a wonderful way for residents to share their interests and hobbies and make new connections.”

The set-up is the same as Speed Dating. Participants sit across from one another at a table, and after 5 minutes of conversation, the participants switch partners. At the end of the event, residents enjoy refreshments and mingle with their newfound acquaintances.
