Thomas J. Angerio, Former Longtime Teacher At Long Branch High School, Dies At 80

Services for football, golf and wrestling coach will be held on Thursday and Friday

Thomas J. Angerio, 80, of Oceanport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born and raised in Long Branch and moved to Oceanport 44 years ago.

Tom was a school teacher for the Long Branch Board of Education for 30 years before retiring in 1994. He was a football, golf and wrestling coach at Long Branch High School, a mutual clerk at Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport for over 44 years, a member of I.A.M.A., and a parishioner of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in West End, Long Branch. He served our country honorably in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Angerio; two daughters, Rhonda Angerio and her husband Henry Hammond, Jr., and Denise Angerio; his brother, Joseph Angerio; and his sister, Rosemarie Pittenger and her husband John.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016 at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave. (corner of Third Ave.) in Long Branch. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St. Michael’s R.C. Church in West End. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Mausoleum in Oceanport.
