Yesterday around 3:30 PM I was swimming in my pool next to the boardwalk when 3 young men ride by on bicycles, going a little fast and horsing around. A few moments later we heard some loud yelling perhaps like the beginning of a fight. Seconds later we heard sirens of a police car quickly arriving at the boardwalk in front of the Monmouth University apartments. Within 5 minutes there were 14, yes 14 police cars at the site, plus an ambulance crew and 2 more police arrived in a golf cart type vehicle. That meant there were 16 policemen on site. I saw one man arrested (probably the other two, but I couldn’t see that) and 3 bikes confiscated.
It’s hard to believe that 16 cops were needed on a Sunday afternoon to arrest 3 guys on bikes.
I’d love to have an answer as to why that many policemen were needed? It seems the entire department was present.
