180 Turning Lives Around will be conducting a 50 hr Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Training course May 13th - June 12, Tue/Wed/Thurs evenings 6pm-9:30pm, at its main office in Hazlet. 180 is a private non-profit organization in Monmouth County that provides support and advocacy to victims of domestic and sexual violence.
180's specially trained confidential volunteer advocates are civilian members of the community who provide the victim and their significant others during their time of crisis with emotional support, referrals for service, assist with medical examination at hospitals, telephone support and accompany with police and grand jury procedures.
Basic requirements: must be 18 yrs of age and older, willing to serve on an on-call shift basis, have access to reliable transportation, posses a valid driver's license, participate with interview process, fingerprinting/background investigation and complete the mandatory training. Bi-lingual volunteers also needed. Prior knowledge of or training in sexual violence is not required.
