PHOTOS: West Long Branch Fireworks Light Up Franklin Lake Park

Fireworks were held in conjunction with Summer Concert Series

If you grew up in West Long Branch, chances are, the fireworks at were a childhood tradition that you looked forward to every year.

This July 4th, the tradition remained in place as the borough put on a dazzling display of fireworks which exploded in beautiful colors and shapes.

Families brought their blankets and found that perfect spot to watch the spectacle, and in turn, began passing along a tradition to their children.

There was a chance this year's fireworks could have been cancelled due to a lack of funding. Fortunately, Monmouth University, West Long Branch PBA Local 141, and other local businesses stepped up and donated to help finance the cost of the pyrotechnics.

Saving the fireworks also preserved the West Long Branch Recreation Commission's Summer Concert Series at the park.

Country band After The Reign played on Monday and had the crowd dancing and stomping its feet to their songs such as "Hillbilly Clubhouse."

For the residents of West Long Branch, and all those who visit the borough in the summer to experience the fireworks, it was another year of tradition preserved.
