LONG VALLEY, NJ — Washington Township police reported two unrelated arrests in a recent department blotter, including an intoxicated driving case on US Highway 46 and a shoplifting case at the Target store.
In one incident, officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on US Highway 46 after seeing a vehicle with equipment violations, according to the Washington Township Police Department.
During the investigation, police determined the driver, a 30-year-old Hackettstown man, was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Police arrested the driver and took him to Washington Township Police Department headquarters for processing.
The department reported that the driver was charged with multiple motor vehicle violations. Police released him to a responsible party pending a required appearance in Washington Township Municipal Court.
In a separate incident, officers responded to the Target store for a report of a shoplifting in progress, according to the blotter.
When officers arrived, police determined that a 19-year-old man from Califon had already been detained by Target Asset Protection. After an on-scene investigation, police arrested him and transported him to headquarters for processing.
The department reported that the 19-year-old was charged with shoplifting. He was later released on a complaint summons pending a required appearance in Washington Township Municipal Court.
Both cases remain scheduled for required appearances in Washington Township Municipal Court, according to the police blotter.
