Long Valley Farm Fire Displaces Several Animals, Community Rallies

LONG VALLEY, NJ — A serious barn fire in Long Valley last week thankfully left nobody hurt, but there is much to rebuild.

On April 21, around 8:30 p.m., fire crews were called out to the Fairmount section of town on reports of a structure fire. Crews arrived at the burning barn in four minutes, but the fire had already engulfed the building.

It took fire crews roughly seven hours to contain the blaze. By the end, the barn’s roof had completely collapsed, and the building was left unrecognizable.

Now, the community is rallying to help the family that owns the barn, the animals that lived in it, and the tenants who lived on the property.

A GoFundMe, launched by family member Elizabeth Tranquilli, is raising money to help her family rebuild the barn.

“After 50+ years of living on the family farm, a fire broke out and destroyed most of what kept it together. My parents are obviously directly affected by this, but so are their animals, who no longer have shelter,” the fundraiser reads. “My father will also lose his business since his equipment was stored in the barn, which was completely wiped out by the fire. The tenants who once occupied the carriage house are also being displaced. The money that we receive through this GoFundMe will be used to help rebuild the barn and provide shelter for the animals.”
