LONG VALLEY, NJ — Long Valley residents are invited to come together later this month for a community walk aimed at raising awareness about suicide and supporting mental health.
The Long Valley Junior Woman's Club's Mental Health Committee will host its "Walk Together for a Brighter Tomorrow" on Sept. 27 at 4:30 p.m. The event is being held in recognition of Suicide Awareness Month.
Participants will meet at Racks Valley Boutique and the adjacent trail parking area before setting out together along the Frying Pan Tree Trail.
Organizers said there will be time for conversation during the walk and while participants gather in the trail's open meadow area. The event is intended to provide an opportunity for community members to remember, support one another, and raise awareness.
Following the walk, participants are invited to return to Racks for an optional discussion and gathering.
The club is promoting the event around the themes of "kindness, connection, and hope," emphasizing the role community connections can play in supporting mental well-being.
The walk is open to everyone.
In the event of rain, the walk will be held Sept. 28 at 5:30 p.m.
