
The Madison 5th grade lacrosse team earned a 5-4 victory on the road against Mountain Lakes April 21.
The Dodgers battled back from an early 2-0 deficit to take a thrid-quarter 4-2 lead. Proving this was a heavyweight fight, the Lakers battled back to 4-4 in the fourth quarter before Tommy “Puzzles” MacCowatt blasted in the game-winner for Madison with 28 seconds remaining.
The Dodger defense dug in their heels and were led by the great play of goalie Nick “Maverick” Spagnoletti and six rotating defensemen: Mark Cowen, Jake Dyer, Pierson Rambusch, James McDonnell, Griffin Heyrich, and Scott Priscu. After giving up two goals in the first quarter, the Dodgers gave up just three goals in the remaining three quarters.

The Dodger attack was lead by Nick O’Hara (one goal in the game), Joe Moceri, Trevor Jasen, Drake Mead, and Nate Kilmaszewski. The Dodger attackmen did a great job of applying pressure to the Lakers in the second quarter and not allowing the Lakers to transition to offense with any ease.
Chet Comizio led the attack with two goals in the game. Also scoring were midfielders Nick Taylor, Tommy MacCowatt, and attackman Nick O’Hara.

Using three rotating midfield lines consisting of Nick Taylor, Griffin Hutchinson, Chet Comizio, Evan Sievers, Tommy MacCowatt, Dillion O’Loughlin, Matt Campbell, Ryan Schmitz, and Joe Cusano, the Dodgers were able to lean on the Laker defense with fresh bodies. The midfielders did a great job of moving the ball on offense and playing tough, in-your-face defense.
The 4-0 Dodgers go on the road on Saturday to play the Hills Gold team at 11:15 a.m. On Sunday, the Dodgers come home to host a doubleheader at . The first game will be against DOC’s NYC team at 12 p.m., and then the second game against Berkeley Heights at 1:30 p.m.
