Madison Renames Former Ambulance Corps Building In Honor of 60-Year Volunteer

MADISON, NJ — The former Madison Volunteer Ambulance Corps building on Prospect Street has a new name: the Jack Luts Municipal Annex.

The Borough of Madison officially renamed the building in honor of Luts, recognizing more than six decades of service to the Madison Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the borough. Luts joined MVAC in 1960.

Mayor Robert H. Conley said the tribute was especially fitting given Luts' hands-on role in the building's history.

"He built the corps in so many ways — not only by mentoring new volunteers, but by literally helping build their home on Prospect Street as he worked alongside other volunteers, putting the bricks in and making it their home," Conley said.

The building Luts helped construct will now permanently carry his name.
