MADISON, NJ — Mayor Robert H. Conley and the Borough Council have officially proclaimed June 2026 as Pride Month in the Borough of Madison, recognizing the contributions of LGBTQ residents and reaffirming the borough's commitment to inclusion and equality.
The proclamation notes that June 2026 marks the 57th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising in New York City, which is recognized as a catalyst for the modern LGBTQ Civil Rights movement.
"The Borough of Madison is committed to supporting visibility, dignity and equality for LGBTQ people in our diverse community," the proclamation reads.
It also acknowledges that while support for LGBTQ equality has grown, the need for education and awareness remains vital, and calls on the community to reflect on progress made while continuing to foster an environment that is inclusive, safe and supportive.
The proclamation recognizes LGBTQ residents for their "influential and lasting contributions" to Madison's neighborhoods, describing them as central to making the borough "a vibrant community in which to live, work and visit."
