April is a great time to take action and discover opportunities to give back and make a difference in the community. During National Volunteer Month, the Madison Area YMCA joins the nation in encouraging individuals to seek ways to give back, while honoring those who dedicate themselves to helping strengthen communities.

“It is a privilege to be able to work with volunteers who are so passionate about what they do for our Y,” said Madison Area YMCA Volunteer Coordinator, Melissa DeSalvo. “There are so many people in our community from all walks of life that come to volunteer to help make our community stronger. Having volunteers express how they are grateful to be able to give back to their community through the Y, is rewarding each and every day.”

Volunteers can take an active role in many ways including tutoring, coaching a sports team, and fundraising, helping at the Welcome Center or Kids Central and more.

The Madison Area YMCA is a not-for-profit, volunteer-based organization. Volunteers are a critical part of how we transform lives through programs and services. The Y offers individuals and families opportunities to volunteer in ways that let them connect and develop meaningful relationships, all while making an impact in communities they care about.
