Attempted Child Abduction in Morris County Has Police Searching for Masked Man

Man in his late 20s allegedly grabbed girl's arm before she ran away, police said.

Local and county police are asking residents to be on the lookout after an alleged attempted child abduction Tuesday afternoon in Boonton.

According to a Nixle alert by the Boonton Police Department, just before 5 p.m. Tuesday, a 10-year-old female walking home from school in Boonton was approached by a white man in his 20s, who was driving a black sedan similar to a Lincoln Town Car livery cab, police said.

The man exited the vehicle and, without speaking, approached the girl and grabbed her right arm, police said.

At that time the girl pulled away and began running home, and noticed the man get back into the car and drive in the direction of Wootton Street in Boonton, police said.

The man was described as a white male in his late 20s, approximately 5-foot-9, wearing black cargo pants, black boots, and a black t-shirt with an image of a skull on it. He was also wearing a black mask over his face, police said.

While the area was canvassed by patrols, no signs of the alleged suspect showed up.
