Baroque Orchestra Kicks Off Summer Music Festival

Week-long event runs at College of Saint Elizabeth.

The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey kicked off a week-long celebration of classical music Sunday afternoon at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown.

Conductor Robert W. Butts took the orchestra and delighted patrons on a musical journey through the 18th and 19th Centuries. Pieces ranged from seldom-played selections by Chevalier de Saint George and Franz Doppler to Johann Sebastian Bach and Felix Mendelssohn.

Vincent Ip, a music major at Montclair State University, electrified the opening night crowd with a magnificent rendition of Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto #1.
