Baroque Orchestra Kicks Off Summer Music Festival
Week-long event runs at College of Saint Elizabeth.
The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey kicked off a week-long celebration of classical music Sunday afternoon at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown.
Conductor Robert W. Butts took the orchestra and delighted patrons on a musical journey through the 18th and 19th Centuries. Pieces ranged from seldom-played selections by Chevalier de Saint George and Franz Doppler to Johann Sebastian Bach and Felix Mendelssohn.
Vincent Ip, a music major at Montclair State University, electrified the opening night crowd with a magnificent rendition of Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto #1.

The Festival continues all week with Lunchtime Organ/Harpsichord Recitals at 12:15 at in Madison, Monday through Friday. On Friday evening, August 19, the Church will host the orchestra at 7:30 p.m.
"Gesualdo: A Music Drama," is slated for Grace Church at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, The opera, "Don Giovanni," is on tap for Sunday, August 21 at the College of Saint Elizabeth.
