The boys lacrosse team has recently hit a groove, winning four of their last five games, including three straight in the past week.
Junior attacker Billy Battaglia played an enormous role in that three-game winning streak, as he racked up 15 goals and three assists prior to the Dodgers' first-round Morris County Tournament game against West Morris Central on Tuesday.
In Madison’s two most recent wins against Millburn and Morristown-Beard, the junior stepped up for back-to-back six-goal, one-assist performances, helping the Dodgers to their fourth and fifth wins of 2011.

Just days earlier, Battaglia, who leads Madison with 31 goals this year, added three goals and one assist in Madison’s 16-5 win over Johnson Regional.
"Billy has really stepped up his game," said Madison head coach Mark Sweeney. "He has been dodging more and has great field awareness. Whenever he sees the back of a defender's helmet, he has been backdoor-cutting. [He has shown] good, tight stickwork in the crease and has been finishing his shots. Billy has worked very hard and it's good for him and his teammates to see that hard work pay off. If you work harder then your opponent, good things happen."
