On Monday, the Madison High boys soccer dealt Hanover Park its first home loss of the season, according to Madison head coach Frank Nunez.
After regulation ended with the score tied 0-0, the game headed into overtime. But in the ninth minute of overtime, Madison's Tyler Schlesinger put a corner kick into the middle of the box. Senior striker Vincent Bennett then ripped a shot into the upper right corner of the goal, just beyond the reach Hanover Park goalkeeper Tom Pescatore, giving Madison a hard-fought 1-0 win.
Pescatore, who Nunez said was "unbelievable all game," stopped 11 shots on Monday, while Madison goalie Matt Gilbert stopped four shots to seal the Dodger shutout.
