Bennett, Willis Lift Madison Past Parsippany

Madison volleyball moves to 9-0, while girls soccer falls to Parsippany.

Madison High School saw three teams compete on Monday, and at the end of the day, two of those clubs walked away with a win.

Dodger Soccer Locks up Fifth Win of 2011

The boys soccer team stepped up on Monday, stopping Parsippany 5-1, keyed by two goals from senior forward Vincent Bennett, which helped Madison to a 3-0 lead at halftime. Bennett also added an assist just 55 seconds into the game, when he fed Mike Clemente from across the box, securing a 1-0 Dodger lead, according to NJ.com.

Also getting in on the scoring on Monday was Jackson Hurst (54th minute), Charlie Whife (74th minute), while senior captains Peter Willis and Danny Giraldo chipped in with a combined three assists.

Senior goalkeeper Matt Gilbert recorded three saves in the win, allowing the lone Parsippany goal to come in the 47th minute by Mawuii Allorbi

With the win, the Dodgers move to 5-3 in 2011.

Madison Girls Soccer Falls to Parsippany

The Madison girls soccer also went up against Parsippany on Monday, but were unable to sneak out a win, falling to the Red Hawks 2-1 in Parsippany, according to NJ.com.

The girls put together a goal in the first half courtest of Carolyn McBrady, but saw the Red Hawks double their total by scores from Kayla Birth and Tiffany Kelly.

Madison Volleyball Earns Win No. 9

The Madison Volleyball team has continued it torrid pace from a year ago, and on Monday, the Dodgers earned their ninth victory of 2011 with a 2-0 win over Dover, according to NJ.com.

Madison took the first game by a count of 25-17, before shutting Dover down 25-7 in the second.

Highlighting the win was Kate Taylor, who served up nine points; JoEllen Kentner, who racked up six kills and four service points; and Jen Vorel, who had 14 assists in the win.
