Black Friday Blood Drive

Help save lives and honor the legacy of the late Bob Beaman. Mr. B was a role model to many Madison youth and led this Drive in the past.

On Friday, November 27th from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM members of the former Venture Crew 77 will be hosting their annual Blood Drive at the Elks Club at 192 Main Street in Madison

The drive was originally motivated by the story of a former Boy Scout in Tennessee that was undergoing a kidney transplant, and had to provide his own blood supply. VC-77 decided to help out. This has led to 8 previous drives, and over 200 viable pints collected to date. There has now been yet another addition to this worthy cause. Earlier this year a pillar to both the Madison and Scouting communities, Bob Beaman passed away. Raised in Madison, Mr. Beaman devoted his life to Scouting, and the fundamentals the organization has supported. He was an important part of the Drive each and every year, and strongly believed in the cause. His dedication has inspired the alumni of Venture Crew 77 to carry on his mission through the Black Friday Blood Drive, and honor his legacy in the process.

In New Jersey there is a constant scarcity of blood. Less than 5% of the population is known to donate, whereas a 80% will need it. Without donors, those patients would not get the blood they need. This lowers their chance at survival. If you have ever had a loved one who has been sick or injured in the hospital then you know the hope that blood can bring. By giving an hour of your time you can give life to three people in New Jersey. This year the goal is to collect over 200 pints of blood, and to meet that goal 200 people or more need to come out and donate.
