With Lofty Record, Madison H.S. Baseball Ready for States

It has been a busy two weeks for baseball. 

Madison edged Livingston High School  4-2 in the Dodger Baseball Mother’s Day Classic and followed with a blowout against Dover, 13-0. In the Dodgers' next game, in spite of scoring three runs in the top of the 7^th, Madison fell to Pequannock 7-5.

The Pequannock loss ended the Dodgers' five-game winning streak, but earned Madison the opportunity to traverse the Arthur Kill to help promote the national pastime in Staten Island, N.Y. The Dodgers were invited to play Jefferson High School at the New York Yankees minor league affiliate stadium in Staten Island.

While the Dodgers lost to Jefferson, it was a great experience for players and fans to see the Dodgers play in a stadium with the Manhattan backdrop beyond the right field fence. One group of loud fans was the Bradley family. The Bradleys made the trip to watch Madison catcher Owen Bradley get his first taste of baseball on the "big-field." Following the game, Tara Bradley, Owens’s favorite sister, summed up the experience this way, "A football championship and now this–he was already hard to live with, now he is going to be impossible.”

There will be no more field trips for Madison as they commence the state playoffs against Parsippany at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at Madison High School.
