Burglar Caught on Tape Stealing From Madison Man's Business

Thief even took marked 'good luck' money mounted on walls of Morristown store.

A brazen burglar busted into the Melt Factory in Morristown and made off with the money in the register and then some, according to owner David Chiarolanzio.

Chiarolanzio, a Madison resident, said the store was broken into at about 12:30 a.m. Monday by a "hooded thief who took all the money in the register."

Chiarolanzio said the thief, who was caught on store security cameras, didn't stop there and also took the money given as good luck when the business opened that was taped on the wall by friends and customers.

Chiarolanzio said that may prove helpful in identifying the culprit.

"I'm not sure if anyone has information about the theft that took place, but since the money taken from the wall had 'good luck Dave' written in each of the bills, that also may help in finding who did this," Chiarolanzio said.

The amount taken was not disclosed and Morristown Police declined to comment on an ongoing investigation. Still photos from the surveillance video are attached to this post and anyone with information can call the Morristown Police at 973-538-2200.

Chiarolanzio is a 25-year-old Madison resident and Fairleigh Dickinson University business graduate who opened the store in 2011.
