Byrne and Hoover Recommend the Farmers Market

Democratic Candidates Long-Time Market Supporters

The Madison Farmers Market is a wonderful example of exciting events sponsored by the Madison Downtown Development Commission (DDC) to attract and serve people from all over. Environmental Commission Chairman Stephen Stocker and Madison Downtown Development Commission (DDC) members and 2016 Democratic candidates for Madison Borough Council, Maureen Byrne and John F. Hoover, all agree that there is nothing like the quality ‘Jersey Fresh’ produce available at the Market. A project of the DDC, the Farmers’ Market is open from 2 to 7 pm every Thursday through Oct. 13 on Central Avenue between Main Street and Cook Avenue. In addition to the farm stands, the Market offers many different vendor and community group booths as well as free live music. Hoover, a fixture at the Market, serves as its Logistics and Onsite Marketing Manager. He can be found there every week greeting and advising vendors and customers, distributing and marking Frequent Shopper Cards, promoting the Market and other Borough events, and helping with set up and tear down activities. Byrne played a key role in the establishment of the downtown Market when it first moved to Waverly Place in 2009 – recruiting vendors, gaining the support of business owners and helping gain Council approval for the move – and then served as the Market’s manager through 2013.
