Cadet SMSgt Alison Dutton, of Madison, receives the AFA Outstanding Cadet Award within the Lone Eagle Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol

Recently, Cadet SMSgt Alison Dutton, Lone Eagle Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol, was presented with the “Civil Air Patrol Outstanding Squadron Cadet of the Year Award” by Lt Col Howard Leach, Jr., CAP and NJ VP/Treasurer of the Shooting Star Chapter 195 of the AFA.

Cadet SMSgt Alison Dutton is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Dutton of Madison, NJ. She is in the 12th grade at Madison High School, NJ, where she is a member of the Red Cross and Key Clubs. She also tutors underclassmen in physics.

Within the Lone Eagle Composite Squadron, she serves as a Cadet NCO leader and has participated in Cadet Orientation Flights, the John Basilone Memorial Parade in Raritan, NJ, and Wreaths Across America. She also gave a briefing on her summer activities which included the CT/NJ Wing Encampment, a US Air Force Academy Seminar, and a US Coast Guard Academy Introduction Mission (AIM) program. Further, she has been endorsed by Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill for an appointment to the US Air Force Academy.

The Lone Eagle Composite Squadron meets on Wednesdays, 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Morristown National Guard Armory, NJ. Youth can start the cadet leadership, aerospace education, and emergency services program at age twelve and adults can join as senior members starting at age 18.
