Critical Blood Shortage In Morris County, Red Cross Seeks Donations

The Red Cross is calling for emergency donations at three Morris County drives this July.

MADISON, NJ — After a drop in donations in May and June, the American Red Cross is seeing critical blood shortages across New Jersey-- and they're asking for your help.

The organization saw a shortage of 61,000 donations over the past two months, and are in need of emergency donations. The shortage is the same was the Red Cross not collecting any blood for four days. All blood types are needed.

“It’s crucial that people donate now to meet the needs of patients every day and to be prepared for emergencies that require significant volumes of donated blood,” said Alana Mauger, external communications manager for the Penn-Jersey Blood Services Region. “Every day, blood and platelet donors can help save lives, and right now these heroes are needed as soon as possible.”
