Late in the second half, Parsippany had its best opportunity with a bouncing ball in the penalty area. It was an anxious moment for Madison goalkeeper Meg Calcaterra.

"It was very nerve-racking. It is just one of those things; you gotta be on the ball before they get a foot on it," Calcaterra said.

DODGER OF THE GAME

Catherine Zimmerman, midfielder—Zimmerman spent much of the time on the offensive side of the field pushing Madison to the goal and scored the lone goal of the game.

"Catherine is very special. If she doesn't score, she assists," Madison coach Kevin Lynott said. "From midfield, that's amazing. When you have Catherine Zimmerman, you always have a chance to score and to win."

THEY SAID IT

"Prior to this, the girls' soccer program wasn't much in this town, and we changed that. Today is the pinnacle of all the hard work that has gone before, especially for this group of girls. It is an amazing accomplishment. I am so happy for them. It's their day. I am so delighted that girls' soccer is back in this town."—Madison coach Kevin Lynott
