Drew University Student Killed In Weekend Car Crash

MADISON, NJ — A Drew University student was killed this weekend in a motorcycle accident, the university president told students in a campus wide email.

Xiaole Fu, 21, from China, was killed Sunday evening when his motorcycle went off the roadway and struck a concrete barrier on the New Jersey Turnpike, nj.com reported. He was pronounced dead at the Meadowlands Hospital Medical Center.

Fu, known to friends as Leo, was pursuing a double major in art and economics.

"He had many friends at Drew - from first years through seniors - who will miss him terribly," university president MaryAnn Baenniger said in an email to students. "Leo’s family has not yet determined any plans for a memorial or service. We will let the community know once there are details."

Councling services were available to students, by calling the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services at x3398, Baenniger said.

Mateo Maduro told NorthJersey.com Fu was an avid motorcyclist who had just bought a new motorcycle.

“It’s sad to see a young rider go,” Maduro told the paper.
