Drew's Caspersen School Examines WWI

Conference coincides with the centennial of the U.S. joining the war

Madison, N.J. – Marking the centennial of America entering World War I, Drew University’s Caspersen School of Graduate Studies will host a daylong conference on the historic conflict.

The war to make the world “safe for democracy” forever changed the role of the United States globally and the demands that the government places on citizens during wartime. Also significant are the events leading to U.S. involvement and how the conflict has been remembered in the nation’s collective memory. The April 2 conference, America Goes to War!, will include lectures, roundtables and exhibits and feature professors from Centenary University, Southern Alabama University, the College of Saint Elizabeth and Drew. Here are some highlights.
