Drugged Driver Injured Minors In Crash: Madison Police

Peter C. Giannios smashed a utility can into a telephone pole, police said.

MADISON, NJ - A 39-year-old Madison man is facing a slew of charges after smashing a utility can into a telephone pole injuring two juvenile passengers, according to the Madison Police Department.

According to authorities, Corporal Bart Glab was dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on Park Avenue, involving a utility van that crashed into a telephone pole. Once on the scene, Glab met with the driver, Peter C. Giannios, and two juvenile passengers complaining of head injury, police said.

After an investigation, it was determined that the juveniles were not secured with seatbelts and Giannios was allegedly under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, police said.

Giannios was later charged with driving under influence of CDS and two counts of 2nd degree endangering the welfare of a child, police said. After processing, Giannios was transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility, police said.

The two juveniles sustained non life-threatening injuries and were treated and released from
Morristown Medical Center.
