Drunk Driver Causes Two Car Crackup: Madison Police

Harry F. Hunt was arrested at the scene of a minor crash, police said.

MADISON, NJ - A 73-year-old Toms River man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a motor vehicle crash on Feb. 2, according to the Madison Police Department.

According to authorities, shortly after 8 p.m., Corporal Kevin Boone and Patrolman Jerald Mantone arrested Harry F. Hunt after being dispatched to Gibbons Place for a minor motor vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, they met with Hunt who was operating one of the vehicles involved, police said. During the investigation, a witness advised that Hunt’s vehicle struck another vehicle while they were stopped in traffic, police said.

Upon speaking with Hunt, officers detected signs of impairmen, police said. Hunt was asked to perform field sobriety evaluations and he was later arrested on scene, police said.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated and issued additional motor vehicle summonses for careless driving, police said.

Hunt was later released to a friend pending a court appearance in Madison Municipal Court.
