MADISON, NJ – Madison Police made multiple arrests in the past month, including for DWI, assault and drug possesssion. Read about those arrests, as written by police, here:

On 2/25/18 at 2:11am, Ptl. Travis Daniel arrested Kevin E. Trejo, 26 of Morristown, NJ. Ptl. Daniel was dispatched to a Community Place apartment for a dispute in progress. Upon arrival, Ptl. Daniel determined that Trejo assaulted an acquaintance of his. It was also determined that Trejo caused property damage in excess of $800.00 on scene. He was arrested on scene and transported to Madison Police Headquarters where he was charged with 4th degree Criminal Mischief and Simple Assault. He was later released from custody pending a court appearance in Morris County Superior Court. There was no medical attention needed for the victim.

On 2/25/18 at 8:19pm, Ptl. Julian Morales arrested Sophia M. Sherman, 18 of Madison, NJ. Ptl. Morales was dispatched to a suspicious vehicle call on Carteret Court, when he observed a grey Hyundai parked illegally. He met with the driver, later identified as Sherman, and observed obvious signs of drug use in plain view. Following an investigation, Sherman was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and suspected marijuana. She was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana-under 50 grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, both being disorderly person’s offenses. Sherman was also issued motor vehicle summonses for CDS in a motor vehicle and unregistered vehicle. Sherman was later released pending a court appearance in Madison Municipal Court.

On 2/27/18 at 9:18pm, Cpl. Bart Glab and Ptl. Nelson Jimenez arrested Denise M. Capoano, 54 of Chatham, NJ. Cpl. Glab stopped Capoano’s vehicle on Brittin Street after they witnessed the driver commit several moving violations. Upon meeting with driver, officers detected an odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from her breath and felt that she could possibly be intoxicated. Capoano was asked to perform field sobriety evaluations and she was arrested on scene. She was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, DWI within 1,000 feet of a school zone, Possession of Open Container of Alcohol, Reckless Driving, Careless Driving, Failure to Stop, Failure to Maintain a Lane, and Failure to Keep Right on the Roadway. After processing, Capoano was later released to a friend pending a court appearance in Madison Municipal Court.

On 3/1/18 at 1:10am, Cpl. Glab arrested Todd M. Huber, 34 of Wilmington, DE. Cpl. Glab stopped Huber’s vehicle on Main Street for a moving violation. Upon meeting with the driver, Cpl. Glab detected signs of possible intoxication. Huber was asked to perform field sobriety evaluations and he was arrested on scene. He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Refusal to Submit Breath Samples, DWI within 1,000 feet of a school zone, Reckless Driving, and Careless Driving. After processing, Huber was later released to a friend pending a court appearance in Madison Municipal Court.

On 3/3/18 at 12:33am, Cpl. Glab arrested Efrey Aguirre Giraldo, 32 of Madison, NJ. Cpl. Glab stopped Giraldo’s vehicle for a suspended registration. Upon further investigation, Cpl. Glab observed obvious signs of intoxication and asked the driver to perform field sobriety evaluations. He was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Operating on a Suspended Registration, Reckless Driving, and Careless Driving. After processing, Giraldo was later released pending a court appearance in Madison Municipal Court.

On 3/3/18 at 1:51pm, Ptl. Julian Morales arrested Matthew A. Forester, 25 of Roxbury Twp, NJ. Ptl. Morales stopped Forester’s vehicle on Park Avenue for a non-moving violation. Upon meeting with the driver, Ptl. Morales observed obvious signs of drug use. After a further investigation, Forester was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Forester was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana-under 50 grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, both being disorderly person’s offenses. He was additionally charged with motor vehicle summonses for CDS in a Motor Vehicle and being an unlicensed driver. He was later released pending a court appearance in Madison Municipal Court.

On 3/6/18 at 6:01pm, Det. Ken Shannon arrested Oscar E. Fabian-Matos- 20 of Morristown, NJ and Cristian O. Gil-Garcia, 20 of Morris Plains, NJ. Det. Shannon stopped on Madison Avenue for an equipment violation. Upon speaking with both occupants, Det. Shannon detected signs of drug use inside of the vehicle. Upon a further investigation, both were found to be in possession of CDS-related items. Both were arrested and transported to Madison Police Department for processing. Gil-Garcia was charged with Possession of Marijuana-under 50 grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, both being disorderly person’s offenses. Fabian-Matos was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, also a disorderly person’s offense. Both were later released pending a court appearance in Madison Municipal Court.

On 3/12/18 at 5:04pm, Ptl. Julian Morales arrested Jonathan Ramirez, 31 of Paterson, NJ. Ptl. Morales stopped Ramirez’s vehicle on Park Avenue for an equipment violation. Upon speaking with the driver, he observed obvious signs of drug use in plain view. After an investigation, Ramirez was found to be in possession of suspect marijuana. He was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana-under 50 grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, both are disorderly person’s offense. He was additionally issued motor vehicle summonses for CDS in a motor vehicle and unclear plates. Ramirez was later released pending a court appearance in Madison Municipal Court.

On 3/17/18 at 1:38am, Cpl. Sean McCarthy arrested Azem Bruncaj, 58 of Chatham, NJ. Cpl. McCarthy was dispatched to the Park Avenue/Madison Avenue intersection for a male sleeping inside of his vehicle. Witnesses reported that the male, later identified as Bruncaj, had been sleeping in his vehicle at the traffic signal on Park Avenue/Madison Avenue. Cpl. McCarthy had woken the driver up and detected an odor of alcoholic beverage. He was asked to perform field sobriety evaluations and was arrested on scene. He was later charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Careless Driving. He was later released to a friend pending a court appearance in Madison Municipal Court.

On 3/18/18 at 12:03am, Ptl. Ryan Dunn and Ptl. Matthew Mirabella arrested Hector D. Maldonado, 21 of Newark, NJ. Madison Police were dispatched to a Madison Avenue location for a defiant trespasser. Upon further investigation, Maldanado was found to be at a location that he was previously barred from. Further it was found that he was in possession of suspected marijuana and he had an outstanding arrest warrant in the amount of $1000 from Union Township. He was arrested on scene and charged with Possession of Marijuana-under 50 grams (Disorderly Person’s offense), Defiant Trespassing (petty disorderly person’s offense). Maldanado could not post bail and he was turned over to Union Twp. Police in lieu of bail.

On 3/19/18 at 10:15am, Sgt. James Cavezza arrested Colin D. Bolger-21 of Florham Park, NJ and Marika Regina Geary-18 of Florham Park, NJ. Sgt. Cavezza stopped Bolger’s vehicle for an equipment violation. While speaking to Bolger, Sgt. Cavezza observed evidence of drug use in plain view. After an investigation, both Bolger and Geary were found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were arrested and charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a disorderly person’s offense. Bolger was also issued a motor vehicle summons for Unlicensed Driver. Both were released pending a court appearance in Madison Municipal Court.
