Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Available In Chatham, Madison

There are currently seven SemaConnect charging stations in Madison and one station in Chatham, according to officials.

CHATHAM, NJ — New electric vehicle charging stations have been installed in the Madison and Chatham areas to support greener travel.

Residents and visitors to Madison and Chatham can now charge their electric vehicles while shopping, dining and playing. Madison has nine SemaConnect charging stations, with another in nearby Chatham.

The new stations were made possible by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's "It Pay$ to Plug In" program, which provided grants to offset the cost of purchasing and installing electric vehicle charging stations.

The program aims to expand New Jersey's electric vehicle infrastructure network, making it possible for residents, businesses and government agencies to buy and drive electric vehicles.

According to officials, the first two hours are charged at $1 per hour, and the third and fourth hours are charged at $3 per hour. More than four hours are charged at a rate of $25 per hour.
