Emergency Warming Centers Open In Madison
As temperatures hover in the single digits and teens, Madison is providing warm spaces for those who need it.

MADISON, NJ — With 2018 off to an extremely cold start, Madison Borough has opened warming centers for anyone who needs a safe place to get out of the cold.
On days with extreme cold, the following centers will be open:
- The Hartley Dodge Memorial Building at 50 Kings Road is open Monday through Friday, 8 AM through 4:30 PM, except on Holidays:
- The Madison Civic Center at 28 Walnut Street is open Monday through Friday, 8 AM through 4:30 PM, except on Holidays:
- The Madison Public Library at 39 Keep Street is open, except on Holidays, on:
- Monday through Wednesday 10AM–9PM
- Thursday and Friday: 10AM–6PM
- Saturday: 10AM–5PM
- Sunday: 1–5PM
- The Public Safety Complex at 62 Kings Road is open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day in an emergency

- Stay in warm locations as often as possible and limit the amount of time outside on extremely cold days.
- Carry cold weather gear: extra socks, gloves, hats, jacket, blankets, a change of clothes and a thermos of hot liquid.
- Put a thermometer and chemical hot packs in your first aid kit.
- Avoid touching cold metal surfaces with bare skin.
- Monitor your physical condition and that of your companions.
- Avoid exposure to extremely cold temperatures if possible.
