Dewey's Comic City welcomes artist / writer KEITH GIFFEN to our store for a creator appearance and signing on Saturday, February 19th, from 1-3pm.
Keith, the artist of the recently published Legion of Super-heroes Annual #1 (reuniting the classic Levitz/Giffen LSH creative time), and current writer of Booster Gold and Doom Patrol will be meeting fans and signing copies of his work. Giffen, our favorite comic creator curmudgeon, is probably most-known for long runs illustrating, and later writing the Legion of Super-Heroes title in the 1980s and 1990s. He is also the creator of the alien mercenary character Lobo (with Roger Slifer), and the irreverent would be "hero”, Ambush Bug.
With a career in comics that began in the 80s, Giffen has worked on many and varied projects including a long run on Justice League International, runs on XO-Manowar, Magnus, Robot Fighter, Punx and Solar, Man of the Atom for Valiant, Hero Complex for Boom Comics, as well as work for Image Comics and Manga translations for Tokyopop. He was also the lead writer for Marvel Comics' Annihilation event, having written the one-shot prologue, the lead-in stories in Thanos and Drax, the Silver Surfer as well as the main six issue mini-series. He also wrote the Star-Lord mini-series for the follow-up story Annihilation: Conquest. Giffen was also the breakdown artist on the DC Comic book “52”, and the follow up Countdown to Final Crisis.
But it was his work on the Legion that rocketed him to comic book artist fame and his long awaited (and much welcomed) return to the LSH occurred earlier this month in the LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES ANNUAL #1 (currently in stock). Besides his work on the LSH Annual, Keith is also the current writer on Doom Patrol and Booster Gold and is finishing up a guest run as the artist of THE OUTSIDERS.
So gather up all those Legions, Lobo's and Ambush Bugs out of your long boxes, or pick up a copy of the Annual our store and have Keith sign them for you! And for those looking for something a little bit upscale we'll also have plenty of copies of the LSH Great Darkness Saga deluxe hardcover collection for sale during signing!
