Hat Making Class/ Make A Fascinator

Since the Royal Wedding, fascinators are the rage! Learn how to make one of those heady creations yourself!

The finished fascinator will belong somewhere in the range of fitting a wedding, the racecourse or an art opening.

Design elements taught will be visual balance and tension, physical balance and the use of sheer/ opaque contrast.

Technical elements taught will be wiring, millinery handsewing, how to cover a buckram base, working with trim elements, how to make a fascinator stay on etc.

You will either use a pre-made fascinator base and cover it or make a base yourself. Material used for these are buckram, felt or sinamay.

The trim can be made from any material you want; however, it cannot be so heavy that the fascinator becomes uncomfortable and should be safe to wear.

No prior millinery knowledge is required. Hand-sewing or stitching experience is a plus. Students with limited handsewing experience can expect to have “homework assignments” to keep up with the rest of the class.

This class has 4 session, Saturdays from 9:30-11:30am
